Divorce
We understand the emotional and financial costs of divorce, and we are committed to helping you resolve your issues professionally, efficiently and cost-effectively. We take a creative approach to divorce and other family law matters, tailoring our solutions to your unique issues and legal objectives.
How Is Divorce Handled in Pennsylvania?
In Pennsylvania, a divorce may be classified as no-fault or fault. In a consensual no-fault divorce, the parties may be divorced as early as 90 days after service of the filing. If a no-fault divorce is contested, the plaintiff must wait two years after the parties have separated to have grounds for a divorce to be entered. In a fault divorce, one of the parties must prove that there are fault-based grounds for the divorce such as desertion, adultery, cruel treatment, imprisonment or insanity. Our attorneys can assist you in either type of divorce.
No matter what the grounds for the divorce are, you and your spouse must come to an agreement on issues such as:
- Alimony
- Division of assets
Our attorneys are committed to helping you resolve family law disputes through alternative dispute methods such as negotiation and mediation, as opposed to costly and time-consuming litigation. However, as seasoned trial attorneys, we do not hesitate to represent your interests in the courtroom when needed.
Our attorneys are prepared to handle even the most complex divorce cases, including high-asset divorce and those with complicated marital estates and financial issues. In contested divorces or for couples who wish to separate, we can help them create a separation agreement that resolves important issues such as child custody, support and alimony.
